What We Repair
Plenty of gutter problems are localised and genuinely repairable. The skill is knowing which ones, because a repair on a run that is already at the end of its life is money you will end up spending twice.

How the Job Runs
A repair starts with finding the actual fault, which is not always where the water shows up.
Find the fault
Water tracks. A stain on a wall can be metres from where it is getting in. We run water through the system and follow it rather than guessing at the obvious spot.
Give you the honest option
If it is a repair, we quote the repair. If the run is at the end of its life we say so, and you decide whether to patch it for now or replace it properly.
Carry out the work
Reseal, rebracket, reset the fall, or replace the affected section. Correct sealant and correct fixings, not a smear of silicone over the top of the problem.
Test it
Water back through the system and watched, because a repair you cannot verify is not really a repair.
What It Costs
Repairs are usually a fixed price for the job once we have seen it. What it depends on:
- What has actually failed, and whether it is one spot or the whole run
- Access, particularly on double storey and awkward elevations
- Whether the fascia behind is sound enough to hold a bracket
- How much of the run needs rebracketing to correct the fall
- Whether damaged sections need replacing rather than resealing
- Any downpipe or outlet work needed at the same time
We will always tell you when a repair is not worth doing. Resealing every joint on a twenty five year old rusted run buys you a season and costs a meaningful fraction of replacing it properly. You should hear that before you spend the money, not after.

The honest answer depends on what has failed and how old the run is. This is roughly how we look at it.
Worth repairing
One or two failed joints, a section damaged in a storm, brackets that have pulled, or a run that has lost its fall but is otherwise sound. Localised faults on guttering with life left in it.
Borderline
Widespread surface rust, several leaking joins, or a gutter that is sound but was badly installed in the first place. Repairable, but worth pricing against replacement before you commit.
Replace it
Rust through the base, sagging across multiple runs, or leaks at nearly every joint. At that point a repair is a delay rather than a fix, and you pay for the same access twice.
Gutter Repair FAQs
Far less than a replacement, but it depends entirely on what has failed. A single leaking corner is a small job. Rebracketing and resetting the fall along a long run is a bigger one. We quote once we have actually seen it.
A properly prepared and resealed joint lasts years. Silicone smeared over a dirty wet joint lasts weeks. The preparation is most of the work, and skipping it is why cheap patch jobs fail so quickly.
Usually fall or downpipe capacity. If the gutter is level or falling the wrong way it pools and goes over the front edge. If the downpipes cannot take the flow it backs up. Both are fixable.
Yes, if the fascia behind it is sound. If the brackets pulled because the timber is rotten, the fascia has to be dealt with first, otherwise the new brackets will pull out the same way.

Surface rust on otherwise sound guttering, sometimes. Rust that has gone through the base, no. Once there are holes at the low points, patching moves the leak rather than stopping it.
